oscar grant, border patrol, and responses to state violence

as you probably know, oscar grants murder has been deemed an accident. a group in san diego has called for peaceful mobilizations, which occurred last night in collaboration with the armory in downtown. i dont have much to say in the way of reporting or analysis, the links already do a good enough job, but in light of this and outright murders by border patrol it becomes obvious that violence like this is far more common that media reports. any state, whether socialist or capitalist, relies on violence to maintain the existence of its power.

what is an appropriate response, and how do we go about in following through with one? what moves us beyond merely denouncing these acts of violence and actually preventing or protecting our communities from state violence?
